Turkish Constitutional Court delegation visits LHC, discusses judicial cooperation

A nine-member delegation from Constitutional Court of the Republic of Türkiye, led by its President Kadir Özkaya, visited the Lahore High Court on Wednesday to strengthen judicial ties and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye. LAHORE, Apr 08 (APP):A nine-member delegation from Constitutional Court of the Republic of Türkiye, led by its President Kadir Özkaya, visited the Lahore High Court on Wednesday to strengthen judicial ties and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye. The delegation comprised Justice Ridvan Güleç, Justice Recai Akyel, Secretary General Murat Azakli, Chief Rapporteur-Judge Abdullah Çelik, Rapporteur-Judge Gizem Ceren Demir Kosar, Rapporteur-Judge Özge Ulukaya, Rapporteur-Judge Sümeyye Kocaman, and Security Officer Ahmet Durmaz. The delegation was received by Chief Justice Aalia Neelum along with senior judges, including Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh, Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi and Justice Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry. Bouquets were presented to the visiting dignitaries on their arrival at the court premises. During a meeting held at the high court, the both sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and discussed practical measures to enhance bilateral cooperation in the administration of justice. Particular emphasis was laid on judicial administration, the use of information technology in court systems, and institutional collaboration aimed at improving efficiency in legal processes. Later, the visiting delegation was taken on a guided tour of the historic Lahore High Court building by the chief justice and senior judges. The delegates visited various sections of the court, including the Chief Justice's courtroom, where they were briefed on the historical significance and architectural features of the building. A luncheon was also hosted by the chief justice in honour of the Turkish delegation, providing an opportunity for further interaction between the visiting judges and members of the Lahore High Court. As part of the visit, President , Constitutional Court of the Republic of Türkiye, Kadir Özkaya and other judges planted saplings on the main lawn of the Lahore High Court, symbolising friendship, judicial cooperation and commitment to environmental sustainability. The LHC chief justice and senior judges also presented shields to the delegation.
